Glossop Railway Station’s recent revamp was praised last week by Andrew, after a visit organised by Friends of Glossop Station (FoGS).

The renovation of the facilities have seen a new ticket office installed and the old waiting room brought back into use, as well as improvements to the station banking carried out by FoGS. Neil Williams, Chairman of FoGS showed Andrew the renovations - including the refurbished waiting rooms – as well as discussing upcoming improvements planned by Northern Rail.

Speaking afterwards, Andrew said:

“I’m hugely impressed with the renovations that have been carried out here. The new waiting rooms are fantastic, and the historic information on display is really interesting. They even have photos of the special train organised for Glossop North End’s trip to Wembley a few years back, which I remember travelling on!

“The Friends of Glossop Station have also done a great job on the banking and other improvements, and I was pleased to hear that there are more renovations in the pipeline. This is fantastic news for passengers, as well as making a key entrance to Glossop more welcoming for visitors.”
